Changes and well-deserved awards
All change!
Not only has Giorgia made the BioBlitz happen again this year, but she also continues to work tirelessly alongside Oliver in the allotment, join the goat team in regular health check-ups (including delivery of a new salt lick in the hot weather) and undertake monthly riverfly surveys in the Brook… all whilst working full-time for Bristol and Avon Rivers Trust (BART)! Little wonder she’s decided to step down from the role of Chair to try and achieve a little work-life balance, a decision she announced at the last Steering Meeting.
Thanks for holding the ship on a steady course for the year Giorgia and we look forward to seeing you as ever continuing your amazing work in and around the Brook!
Jackie has agreed to step up from Vice Chair and Cristina has stepped into Vice Chair until the next AGM.
FoBB is entirely volunteer-led and people’s commitments vary with their lives but together we can achieve great things…
Winning awards!
FoBB were recently invited to attend the Council House no-less for a gathering of volunteer groups from across Bristol… and awards were had! The group was recognised as making an outstanding contribution to the community and both Jackie Friel and Jo Bushell (Chair 2024-2025) were also awarded individually.
Jackie says:
“I’m so proud of all you FoBB volunteers for winning BCC’s Outstanding Contribution Award. It’s a collective award. Despite having heavy schedules, each and every one of you has contributed in your own way.
It’s a boost to group morale to have this recognition. It just goes to show, together we can achieve great things. Well done all! 👏 🎺 🥳”
